Hidden from screen sharing — and where that ends

The two windows are marked as protected content, which is the same mechanism a password manager uses to keep your vault out of a screen recording.

What it covers

When you share a window or your whole screen in Zoom, Meet, Teams or Discord, the picture the other side receives does not contain the Subtl windows. The same applies to a screen recording made on your Mac.

What it does not cover

We would rather list these than have you discover one of them during a call.

  1. 01A camera pointed at your monitor, or a person sitting next to you.
  2. 02A recording made on the other side of the call, of their own screen — which never contained your windows anyway.
  3. 03Capture software that reads the display at the driver level rather than through the system API.
  4. 04Your own behaviour: long pauses while you read are the thing people actually notice.

Turning it off

The Stealth switch is on the Live panel. It is worth turning off when you want to screenshot the windows for a colleague or for support — while it is on, your screenshots of Subtl come out empty, which is not a bug.
